The big problem here is that there is a true bird called Protoavis ( that would be older than Coelophysis thus eliminating Coelophysis as an ancestor to birds."

Both Coelophysis and Protoavis are listed as late Triassic, so Protoavis is not, according to these references, older than Coelophysis
