Ray Comfort

Ray Comfort (December 5, 1949) is an a well-known creationist and evangelist born in New Zealand. In 1989, Comfort was offered the opportunity to to become the Pastor of Evangelism with Hosanna Chapel in the city of Bellflower, in Southern California. He moved to the United States to accepted the position in order to bring the Way of the Master teaching to the American Church.[1]

Born Jewish, Ray Comfort was not brought up in a Christian home and rarely ever attended church where he found it an insult to his intellect.[2] At the age of 22, Comfort accepted Christ as his Saviour, and since then has been been doing open-air preaching and enthusiastically sharing the Bible with others.

Comfort lives with his wife Sue in Southern California, and they have three grown children, Jacob, Rachel and Daniel.


Ray Comfort's ministry has been praised by Franklin Graham, Ravi Zacharias, John MacArthur, David Jeremiah, Josh McDowell, Dr. Norman Geisler, Bill Gothard, David Wilkerson, Joni Eareckson Tada, Ken Ham, and many other Christian leaders. Comfort and Ham have a very strong relationship, and they regularly promote each others ministries. Comfort has has written for Billy Graham's Decision magazine and Bill Bright's Worldwide Challenge.[3][4]

Comfort's films have been endorsed by numerous prominent Christian leaders, and he has a particularly close relationship with Christian apologist and Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham. On October 22, 2016, his film The Atheist Delusion premiered at the Ark Encounter, run by AiG.[5]

Comfort has written over 50 books [6] and his literature is used by the Moody Bible Institute, Leighton Ford Ministries, Campus Crusade For Christ, Institute in Basic Life Principles, and the Institute for Scientific & Biblical Research. Comfort regularly holds open air preaching and he has spoken in more than 700 churches, from almost every denomination.[7]

Living Waters

Living Waters was founded by Ray Comfort to "educate God’s people in the principals of Biblical evangelism; to encourage the Body of Christ to faithfully fulfill the Great Commission; and to equip every individual believer with the necessary resources to practically proclaim the everlasting gospel. We do this through the teaching and preaching of God's Word and through the production and dissemination of various printed and audio/visual mediums."[8]

The Way of the Master

In 2002 Mr. Comfort, along with Kirk Cameron, created The Way of the Master, the Christian evangelism training ministry. As a ministry, their sole purpose equip and help Christians spread the Word the way Jesus did-effectively and biblically.[9] The Way of the Master Ministries offer many tools and resources to help Christians in sharing the Bible with unbelievers.

The Way of the Master presents radio and television programs every week teaching Christians how to share their faith simply and clearly. Television programs are scheduled to air via satellite to over 100 nations every week. In the 30 minute television program Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron go out to the streets and demonstrate how to share the gospel.[10]
