Jonah (Hebrew: יונה, Yōnāh; Greek: Ἰωνᾶς, Iōnas; Latin: Ionas; Arabic: يونس, Yunus; "Name means::dove"), the son of Amittai of Gath-hepher, was an Old Testament prophet from the Northern Kingdom of Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II, the central character in the Book of Jonah and is perhaps best known for being swallowed by (and living for a time inside) a "great fish" and for his disobedience.
